New Leaders - Making the Leap into Leadership
...there's more to it than just a pay raise!
Generally speaking, the new leader already possesses the knowledge, skills, and abilities related to his or her area of expertise. In fact, high levels of expertise may drive a promotion into the ranks of leadership in an organization. Nonetheless, leadership requires skills far different from technical skills. The new leader needs to transition from getting things via personal performance to influencing others to get things done.
The objective of this course is to focus on the human element of leadership and follower-ship where areas of focus emphasize communication, conflict, and commitment. The course includes an introduction to personal leadership and defining leadership style(s), handling employee challenges, providing growth opportunities for employees, enhancing communication by further developing listening skills, and employee recognition.
